Google Trends for Academic Research

Google Trends can be useful, particularly to help narrow down keywords for our research. It's also a useful tool for letting us potentially know the popularity of our topic. 

Google Trends shows us the popularity of top search quarries/terms in Google across various regions. It uses graphs to compare search volume for a  particular search quarries/terms. 

Here is an example using the search term "Coronavirus" over a time period of 12 months:
