The following courses provide a Zero Textbook Cost Pathway to fulfill the Cal-GETSE General Education Pattern with at least one ZTC section offered across an academic year. Courses listed were selected based on the number of ZTC sections consistently reported by ECC faculty. It is anticipated that new courses will be added over the long term.
Students are able to search for ZTC sections offered each term using ECC's online Schedule of Courses.
Area 1: English Communication
CSU – Three courses required; one each from 1A, 1B, and 1C
UC – Two courses required; one from 1A and 1B.

Not part of Cal-GETC; may be completed prior to transfer (6 semester or 8 quarter units):
Courses in U. S. History, Constitution and American Ideals are required for graduation by the CSU. Although the U. S. History, Constitution and American Ideals requirement is not part of the IGETC pattern, students who plan to transfer to the CSU are encouraged to complete the requirement prior to transfer to satisfy CSU graduation requirements.
This requirement can be satisfied by completing any combination of two classes that, when combined, fulfill US-1, US-2 and US-3.
These courses may be used to partially satisfy the Area 3B or 4 requirements.
